SankofaNow is a program that culminates in a 7 to 10 days journey through Republic of Ghana, West Africa. The trip itself is preceded by pre-trip sessions which combine selected readings, film, community discussion, and meetings and it followed by several post-trip debriefing sessions. We will explore the historical, scientific, theological, psychological, sociological and artistic dimensions racial reconciliation and human wholeness and flourishing. The corresponding 7 to 10-day trip in Ghana will include visits to significant historical sites, relevant educational institutions, and meetings with local educators, artists, entrepreneurs, among others. The sites include W. E. B. DuBois Museum, Slave Dungeons, a tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital ,visit with renowned artist Kwame Akoto-Bamfo, Manhyia Palace, seat of the Ashanti Kingdom, etc.
This multidimensional, multi-disciplinary immersion experience uses intergroup dialogue strategies and is facilitated by experienced leaders. It is designed to affect the whole person—mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical and awaken us to our divine mandate of reconciling all things to himself.
